Meditation Classes, Courses & Retreats
Bodhichitta Kadampa Buddhist Center offers an extensive program of meditation classes, study programs and retreats (see left menu).
The methods and practices taught at the Center are suitable for all individuals, whatever your level of interest. Following Buddha’s special advice, we can relax our mind, dissolve our pain and fear and become of greater benefit to others.
The classes are all included in three special study and meditation programs: the General Program, Foundation Program and Teacher Training Program.
What is a retreat?
During retreat we temporarily withdraw from our usual routines and activities, and learn how to relax and develop peaceful, positive minds through meditation. In this way we create space in our mind and develop a fresh perspective on life. Many people find that the meditations they learn during such a meaningful holiday bring great and long-lasting benefit to their lives.
The General Program introduces basic Buddhist view, meditation and action, along with various other teachings and practices. All within the Mahayana Buddhist tradition of Atisha and Je Tsongkhapa, this program helps practitioners deepen their knowledge and experience of Buddhism.
Based on commentaries by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, it consists of:
* Drop-in classes
* Weekend retreats
Use the menu on the left to browse the full program offered by the Center.
The purpose of the Foundation Program is to provide a systematic presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism to enable practitioners to deepen their knowledge and experience of Buddhism.
Teacher Training Program
The purpose of the Teacher Training Program is to provide an extensive presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism to enable practitioners to deepen their knowledge and experience of Buddhism, and to train as qualified New Kadampa Tradition teachers.
All Resident Teachers of Kadampa Buddhist Centers follow this in-depth program of study and practice.
