Essential Buddhism
Sunday Mornings, 10:30am – Noon with Buddhist Teacher, David Shea
Buddhism is not necessarily a religion, but a spiritual practice of understanding and transforming the mind. Since everyone has a mind, and to find deeper happiness everyone needs to learn how to understand and transform their mind, Buddhism is meaningful or useful for everyone. The essence of Buddhist practice is to develop and maintain a peaceful mind. Meditation is a tool which enables us to create this light, flexible and positive state of mind and transform difficulties into the path. Since everyone wants this kind of freedom, meditation is for everyone.
But how can we achieve this peace and happiness? Where should we start and how can we find support on this journey? How can we develop a transformative meditation practice?
In this teaching series David Shea will explore the basic framework of Buddhist teachings and meditation using Prayers for Meditation and Introduction to Buddhism as our guide. He will teach how we can eliminate obstacles within our mind, empower ourselves by accumulating positive energy, and activate, sustain and incorporate spiritual insights into daily life to help solve our problems and improve our relationships.
