Can Buddhism help with our collective and personal struggle? This course will explore using the extraordinarily practical and powerful teachings of modern Buddhism to create a new world founded in inner transformation.
Buddha was a revolutionary spiritual teacher who taught at a time of great change. He challenged social norms by providing everyone equally and without discrimination the opportunity to attain true mental freedom and enlightenment. His teachings are grounded in the equality and interdependence of all beings, and reveal that every one of us has an immensely powerful mind, with which we can create an entirely new and happier world.
Modern Buddhism is also meant for us during this time of great cultural change. History has shown that lasting meaningful change has been hard to achieve — why? Because to bring about lasting change we need to start at the source, and thoroughly change not just our actions but our minds. Far from being passive, Buddha showed that we have not gone far enough. This is a challenge we must and can rise to.
Modern Buddhism shows us how we can rise to the challenge, by offering a practical presentation that has immediate contemporary application.
